I've always wanted to do one of these, and even though it's WAY too early, there are generally not enough 7 round options out there to indulge my curiosity. Here's an early stab at a Eagles-specific 7 round mock:
NOTE 1: Philly has, as we know, the Saints #1 selection. We've also got the Vikings #7 selection, but are missing our own #6 pick.
NOTE 2: Philly is not projected to obtain any compensatory picks, as of now.
NOTE 3: I'm slotting the Eagles in at the #21 pick.
#19 (from NO): Malachi Moore, FS, Alabama. Moore plays Alabama's STAR position, a sort of cross between FS and nickelback. He's made 20 starts for Nick Saban going into this season already and has a solid all around game. Alabama has a great track record developing defensive backs. Safety is a position of need, even if Epps and Gardner-Johnson get extensions.
#21: Tyler Van Dyke, QB, Miami. Even the biggest Jalen Hurts optimist recognizes the possibility that Philly may be looking for an upgrade next spring. If so, Van Dyke provides an intriguing long term option. His first year starting for a Miami offense light on top shelf NFL prospects turned some heads last year. If he builds on that he may not even be available this low.
#53: Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Alabama. Miles Sanders and Boston Scott are both free agents next season and Philly may be looking to add depth. Gibbs has the all-around ability to contribute as a runner, receiver and returner that the Eagles will be looking for.
#85: Dawand Jones, RT, Ohio St. A developmental right tackle is an under the radar need for this team; Lane Johnson won't play forever. Jones is massive (6-8, 360) and a couple years in the OL Factory could turn him into a terror as either a RT of the future or a swing tackle. If all else fails, I believe he could play guard.
#122: Josh Whyle, TE, Cincinnati. One of the top offensive players for the Bearcats over the last two years, Whyle has good size (6-6, 252) and is a plus athlete. TE2 is unsettled for the long term, as of now.
#155: Brenton Cox, DE, Florida. High ceiling rushers are a longtime Eagles draft favorite.
#230: Tory Taylor, P, Iowa. Philly has struggled to replace Donnie Jones. Taylor is a killer with a knack for dropping the ball inside the 10, and comes from a program known for producing special teams players.
#235: Jayden Reed, WR, Michigan St. Reed offers solid receiving ability (went over a thousand yards and made an All American spot in his first year as a starter), as well as being a quality punt and kickoff returner.
