2023 Philadelphia Eagles Seven Round Mock Draft, Version 2.0

I already attempted this once (CLICK HERE for the first draft), but now that a few weeks of both college and pro ball have passed, let's revisit the 2023 7 round mock. Here are a few guidelines/comments:

NOTE 1: Philly has, as we know, the Saints #1 selection. We've also got the Vikings #7 selection, but are missing their own #6 pick.

NOTE 2: Philly is not projected to obtain any compensatory picks, as of now.

NOTE 3: I'm slotting the Eagles in at the #30 pick. There's some buzz that the Saint's pick will end up in the top 5; for now let's tap the breaks and assume the most likely result, which is that this pick will probably land in the 10-15 range. I'll give them #12 overall for now.

#12 (from NO): Eli Ricks, CB, Alabama. Outside corner is a major area of need after this season (Slay will 32 in January, Bradberry will be a free agent and no one else on the roster looks capable of carrying the load). We noted last time that Alabama has a long track record of developing NFL defensive backs.

#30: Andre Carter II, EDGE, Army. Long explosive athlete with plenty of upside and the mindset to develop (West Point cadet). Rush end is a position of need.

#62: Arik Gilbert, TE, Georgia. This guy has long been on scout's radar as one of the more special athletes to play the position (think Vernon Davis). He's not as high of a projected pick as he hasn't played much yet for UGA. He'll either rise or drop, depending on how his situation gets straightened out.

#94: Akeem Dent, FS, Florida St. I stressed last time that safety was a top need, with both starters set to hit free agency next season. Dent is a plus athlete with coverage chops who could see a lot of field time as a rookie.

#131: Walker Parks, RT, Clemson. Parks was a top prep with good size, plus athleticism and offers left-right side versatility. He'll need to add strength and he's more known as a run blocker at this point, but that should suit the Eagles just fine. A developmental swing tackle is a need.

#164: Kendall Milton, RB, Georgia. Unless Philly re-signs Miles Sanders, they'll be without a RB with starting experience next year. Milton offers the possibility of a power back at 220 pounds.

#239: Tory Taylor, P, Iowa. I'm keeping this pick exactly as it was last time as the need still exists. Here's what I said about Taylor three weeks ago: “Philly has struggled to replace Donnie Jones. Taylor is a killer with a knack for dropping the ball inside the 10, and comes from a program known for producing special teams players.”

#254: Chris Tyree, All-Purpose, Notre Dame. Tyree has been a RB to this point in his career, but really could play almost anywhere as evidenced by his 2,209 all purpose yards in just 27 games as a bit player for the Irish. He offers big play speed (some have him down for a 4.29 40), pass catching ability and kick return chops. Consider him an insurance policy against Kenny Gainwell's potential release this summer.
