CLICK HERE for the first version from about six weeks ago.

It's never too early, and always fun to crack open a mock draft! A few thoughts before we begin:

What picks do the Eagles have? This list remains largely unchanged since the trade deadline, other than our swap of Kentavius Street:

2ND ROUND

Eagles’ own pick

Saints pick

3RD ROUND

The Eagles’ own pick was traded to Arizona for Kelee Ringo

compensatory pick for Javon Hargrave

4TH ROUND

The Eagles’ own pick was traded to Chicago for Jalen Carter

5TH ROUND

Vikings or Buccaneers pick (acquired for Jalen Raeger), whichever is better, traded to Tennessee for Kevin Byard

Vikings or Buccaneers pick (acquired for a sixth round pick during 2023 draft), whichever is worse

compensatory pick for Isaac Seumalo

compensatory pick for Andre Dillard

6TH ROUND

The Eagles’ own pick was traded to New Orleans for CJGJ

Titans pick (acquired for Ugo Amadi), traded back to Tennessee for Byard

As of now I'm going to give Philly the #29 draft slot. The Saints pick in the second round should land in the middle; I'm going to mark it as #53 overall.

There are very few positions that I couldn't see Philly addressing at some point. I don't think they'll draft a QB or DT in the higher rounds, but pretty much every other position should be considered.

Here we go!

#29: J.T. Tuimoloau, EDGE, Ohio St. I'm leaving this selection unchanged from the last mock; it's a classic Eagles' pick: a position of both need and high value, and a player with upside. Here's what I said the first time around: "I don't think it's likely that JTT drops this far, but scouts are divided on his draft stock. Should he make it, it's a no-brainer for the Birds to bring in a freakish size-athleticism-playmaking combo like Tuimoloau. Should he drop into the mid to late teens, he's a trade-up candidate. This is a sneaky position of need for Philly, as Graham will likely retire after 2023 and both Reddick and Sweat will be in contract years next season."

#53 (from Saints): Jeremiah Trotter Jr., LB, Clemson. Can't resist taking the man they call "Axe" (like his father) here. You all know that this is a position of need; Axe offers plus speed (runs a reported 4.6 forty) and unbelievable playmaking. Just in the last two seasons he's racked up 177 tackles, 16.5 TFLs, 13 sacks, 10 PBUs, 4 picks, 3 FFs and 2 touchdowns. This from a guy that was barely 20 and still growing into his body. This would be a win all the way around.

#61: Ja'Tavion Sanders, TE, Texas. Philly needs DB help but the players likely available here won't excite anyone. We'll instead go with a freak athlete who may develop into Dallas Goedert's heir apparent. TE2 has proven to be a position of need for Philly even now.

#97 (compensatory): Blake Fisher, RT, Notre Dame. Philly is in need of a high level prospect to develop behind Lane Johnson, and the other ND tackle possesses size and upside, not to mention RT experience.

#146 (from Tampa): Malachi Moore, FS, Alabama. Rangy, athletic and versatile with an elite pedigree (blue chip HS player who started for Alabama's National Championship team as a true freshman and played four years for Nick Saban); Philly gets a prospective starter that falls to them in the fifth round.

#172 (compensatory): Tony Grimes, CB, Texas A&M. A former five star recruit who's college career took a few twists and turns, Grimes still has enough upside and playmaking ability to warrant a shot. Philly needs all the lottery tickets it can get in the CB room.

#173 (compensatory): Javon Solomon, EDGE, Troy. Undersized (6-2, 246) but wildly productive pass rusher who has piled up 42 TFLs (including 31.5 sacks) over the last three years. He also made Bruce Feldman's famous Freaks List; here's what was said: "He... looks the part, bench-pressing 420 pounds; deadlifting 615, squatting 600 and has just 7 percent body fat. He also has excellent burst, topping out at 21.63 MPH."

#190 (from Atlanta): Devin Neal, RB, Kansas. Athletic and productive RB from a developmental program. Neal crossed the 3,000 rushing yard threshold and has 52 career receptions in just three seasons. Among Eagle RBs, only Kenny Gainwell has a contract after this season, so Philly will be looking for cheap options with upside to add to the room.

#214 (compensatory): Isaiah Williams, WR, Illinois. Kind of a "Slash" guy, Williams was a former 5 star QB prospect that did a little of everything for the Illini (QB, RB, WR, PR). He racked up 3,505 all-purpose yards with 22 total touchdowns in his career. Really came into his own at last at WR, where he was first team all Big Ten as a senior. Sometimes NFL teams catch lightning in the bottle with this kind of player (Josh Cribbs, Wes Welker and Julian Edelman all profiled similarly).
