Eagles beat up injured Cowboys; take over NFC East.

Normally these Dallas games are filled with drama, both before and during, but not today: the injury plagued Cowboys never really stood a chance and this gam was rarely close. Even with a relatively tame 14-6 halftime lead, the box score told a different story with solid Eagle advantages in FD (13-8) and yardage (188-104). Philly had the game's only sustained scoring drive at that point, and after halftime the floodgates opened up, leading to the final score of 34-6. It's always great to beat Dallas, and it's even better to do so with the starters watching the final eight minutes from the bench.

Dallas' defense actually played a half decent game, at least until things got out of hand, but with abysmal QB play there's only so much they could do. Philly did what they could to keep the Cowboys in the game with two first half turnovers, some questionable offensive playcalling and seemingly bottomless penalties, but got a lot of those out of their system by the third quarter. Jalen had a couple rough moments (two turnovers but I’m inclined to treat the pick as more of a great play by Diggs than a bad throw) but some truly brilliant ones; both TD passes were set up by keeping his eyes up while he scrambled. He had some nice moments running up the middle but wasn't quite able to beat some of the Dallas defenders around the edge.

Today marks the first time that the road team has won a meaningful contest in this series since 2018; the home team had won the last nine in a row when their starters played.

It's a shame that some of the shine is off this game, as rough as Dallas has been this year (and probably will continue to be). The division will come down to the Eagles and Commanders this year (who knew?), and Philly takes the advantage with Washington's loss to Pittsburgh today. I have no idea what to expect from that game (my early instinct is to pick Philly), but whatever it is we'll be here for it. The teams are coming off very different short weeks, with Washington giving up a late lead for a tough loss but Philly coming off this drama-free stomping of an arch rival. Whoever navigates their situation better likely has the edge.
